*Note re under 16s - If you are making a referral, we follow the NSPCC's guidance on Gillick competency, which helps us determine if a young person under the age of 16 has the capacity to make informed decisions about their own care. In line with these guidelines, we assess whether the individual understands the nature, purpose, and potential consequences of the decision they are making.

If the person referred is under 16, we may involve a parent, guardian, or responsible adult in the process, unless the young person demonstrates sufficient maturity and understanding to make decisions independently.
